Education Central to Growth and Prosperity of Any Nation: Senate Chairman Gilani

Islamabad: Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has emphasized the critical role of education in shaping human societies and driving national growth. Speaking at a ceremony held at Roots Millennium School in Multan, he described education as a fundamental need for every individual, regardless of wealth, gender, or social background.

Highlighting the broader purpose of education, Mr. Gilani said it is not merely about earning degrees from schools, colleges, or universities, but about preparing responsible citizens who respect social values and traditions. 'Education refines a person's character,' he remarked.

Expressing his deep connection to Multan, known as the city of saints, Mr. Gilani noted his continuous efforts for the city's development. He cited various educational and infrastructure projects across Multan and South Punjab, emphasizing that these initiatives continue to benefit the local population. He assured his commitment to support further educational advancement and regional development.

Recalling his tenure as Prime Minister, Mr. Gilani highlighted that he had awarded 100 scholarships to Bahauddin Zakariya University, each valued at Rs100 million, many of whose recipients now serve the country in key positions. He also mentioned that Gilani Law College currently offers PhD and LLM programs, with ten PhD faculty members providing high-quality education, and he has requested the Law Minister to approve 50 additional seats to further promote legal education.

Praising Roots Millennium School for providing state-of-the-art education with modern facilities, Mr. Gilani described the institution as a positive step for future generations.

The event was attended by MNA Syed Ali Qasim Gilani, CEO Roots Millennium Schools Multan Faisal Mushtaq, Director Sabina Zakir, former ambassador Syed Zulfiqar Gardezi, Saira Khakwani, teachers, students, and a large number of parents.
