Fake bank accounts case: SHC wraps up case of 13 accused persons

Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) while accepting the federal government plea for withdrawing the appeals against acquittal of 13 accused persons including Hussain Lawai and Talah Hussain in fake bank accounts case has wrapped up the case.

As per media reprots, Farooq H Naik, Shaukat Hayat and other counsels for the accused appeared in the court during the hearing of the case.

Assistant Attorney General (AAG) requested the court for withdrawing the appeal pleas on behalf of federal government. The court while expressing surprise inquired what has happened as such that appeals are being withdrawn.

AAG replied we have been given this directive that we have to withdraw appeals .

The court while approving the plea of counsel for federal government wrapped up the case following withdrawal of appeals. It is pertinent to mention here that banking court while accepting their acquittal pleas on March 4, 2026 had acquitted from the case 13 accused persons including Hussain Lawai, Khawaja Anwar, Namar Majeed, Mustafa Zulqarnain, Ali Kamal, Abdul Ghanni, Adeel Shah, Mushtaq Ahmad, Khawaja Suleman, Imran Khan, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Haji Haroon and M Younus

Banking court had maintained that the prosecution could not provide the requisite specific evidence to prove the basic legal ingredients of the allegations of fraud, corruption or money laundering.
