Islamabad: Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) has ordered Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government to submit complete record of the present and proposed legislation.

As per media reports the matter of proposed legislation regarding GB came up for hearing in FCC.

During the hearing of the case Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi remarked why permission is being sought from the court for legislation. Consultation should be made with senior politicians of GB on this matter. Government is authorized to legislate. However clarification is needed on certain matters in the light of Supreme Court (SC) decision.

Additional Attorney General (AAG) Amir Rehman told the court government is competent to legislate. But permission is needed in certain matters in the light of SC decision. There is suggestion for including pension of chief judge and other judges of GB in the law in the proposed legislation.

This was also told to the court the proposal for fixing tenure of members of GB Assembly for five years is also under consideration.

Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi raised question what are the details of proposal of legislation.

Justice Rozi Khan said this is a political matter and government itself should resolve it.

Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi further said if debate of parliament is brought to court then new Pandora box will open and notices will have to be given to all respondents.

Justice KK Agha remarked if seems as if government is in great hurry. So much haste is not shown in cases of such nature generally.

Later the three members bench adjourned the hearing of the case further.
