Karachi: Acting Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Muslim Parvez has strongly condemned the Pakistan People Party government in Sindh and said that the form 47 regime was constantly violating the constitution.The JI leader was addressing a press conference held at Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI Karachi headquarters, here on Sunday. The JI leadership held the press conference in the aftermath of a police action at an earlier presser held outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office in Karachi. The presser was organised to record the protest against rigging of the last general elections with the help of fake forms 47 as February 8 marks two years since the rigging.In a blatant violation of the constitution, the government violated the right to express and taken the JI leadership into custody amid the press conference outside the ECP. Several JI activists were also taken into custody without any legal justification. They were later release after growing pressure by people.Speaking at the press co nference, he stated that Pakistan's Constitution allows citizens to express their views peacefully and democratically anywhere.He said Jamaat-e-Islami was expressing its opinion before the press in accordance with the Constitution, but the PPP-led Sindh government displayed fascist behavior by arresting party workers, which is a clear violation of democratic values.He announced that a sit-in will be held outside the Sindh Assembly on February 14, as per the plan, under all circumstances against the incompetence of the Sindh government and its control over Karachi's institutions.Jamaat-e-Islami had previously staged a historic 29-day sit-in outside the Sindh Assembly, and the protest will be held again to ensure implementation of the agreement reached with the government, he said.Muslim Parvez said the Election Commission carried out the worst electoral rigging, and the party intended to record its protest outside the commission's office and demand immediate rectification of its mistakes. He added that those produced through Form-47 themselves know they are not the true representatives of the people, while Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan's Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman set a moral example by refusing to take oath on his seat.He emphasized that protest is Jamaat-e-Islami's democratic and constitutional right and that the struggle will continue until powers are transferred to the grassroots in accordance with the Constitution. He said the February 14 sit-in will raise all of Karachi's issues forcefully and that arrests cannot stop the party's movement. He also thanked party officials and workers who peacefully courted arrest to exercise their democratic right to protest.Sindh Assembly member Muhammad Farooq said the Sindh government, frightened by the announced public press conference against the 'Form-47-based fake government' and the Election Commission, resorted to fascist tactics and arrested 19 party workers and officials. He said these arrests were made to prevent the February 14 sit-in outside the Sindh Ass embly, reflecting the government's panic and anti-democratic attitude.He warned that Jamaat-e-Islami will not withdraw from its constitutional and democratic rights and that the sit-in on February 14 will take place in any case. No intimidation, threats, or arrests can force the party to retreat from its stance. He added that even if FIRs are registered, the party will continue peaceful sit-ins and protests for public rights.Farooq further said he would raise strong protest in the Sindh Assembly session against the arrests and expose the government's actions in the house, concluding that Jamaat-e-Islami is not afraid of such tactics and will continue its struggle for the rights of the people.
