Islamabad: The federal government has issued a notification announcing a four-day working week for government offices as part of its austerity measures.
According to the Cabinet Division, government offices will remain open from Monday to Thursday, while Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be observed as holidays.
The notification further directs officers in all federal and provincial government institutions receiving salaries of Grade 20 or above, or earning more than Rs300,000 per month, to voluntarily accept a deduction equivalent to two days' salary.
However, the salary deduction will not apply to employees working in the health and education sectors.
The notification has been issued in continuation of the austerity package announced earlier by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
