Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has conveyed his good wishes to His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei on his election and appointment as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a statement issued by the President's Secretariat (Media Wing), President Zardari extended his congratulations and best wishes to the Iranian leader.

The President noted that the region is currently facing serious tensions and conflict and expressed hope that the situation will stabilize soon.

He further expressed optimism that conditions in the region would improve for the people and that peace and stability would prevail.
