Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has observed that filing misleading report in the court is cognizable offence. Justice Amjid Rafiq of LHC has directed DPO Okara to register case against the respective police officer for allegedly keeping the citizen under illegal detention by Crime Control Department (CCD) besides presenting implementation report in the court.
Justice Amjid Rafiq while issuing decision on the petition maintained the available video evidences don't conform to CCD report. A clear contradiction exists between both of them.
If any citizen is kept under illegal detention and later a misleading report is filed in the court, it is a cognizable offence. It cannot be ignored.
The court while issuing decision on the petition filed by the petitioner Maqsooda Bibi maintained that according to the petitioner Gulfam Ali was formally released from jail on June 27, 2026. However soon after his release, persons in plain clothes took him into their custody outside the jail.
The court directed DPO Okara to register case against the respective police officer and file progress report in the court.
Under the court's order CCD inspector Defence Lahore Akhtar Ali took the plea while filing report Gulfam Ali was arrested in connection with a case registered in Okara.
