Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the concerned authorities to trace and present the record in forest department Sialkot and Gujarat land case.

Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan remarked during hearing of the case on Monday " this matter is not so easy. Trace the record in details. The common man does not know if there are powers of auction or otherwise. Disappearance of file is not ordinary matter.

SC bench presided over by Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail took up the case for hearing.

Assistant Commissioner Pasrur and Gujarat appeared under the order of court.

Additional Advocate General (AAG) Sana Ullah Zahid told the court both the assistant commissioners are present here today (Monday) under the order of SC.

Justice Jamal Mandokhail inquired have both the officers brought land record.

AC Pasrur replied the record was searched in Assistant Commissioner Office but it was not found. Letter has been written to Deputy Commissioner office for record.

Sana Ullah Zahid took the plea the Punjab government stance is this no auction has taken place. Assistant Commissioner could not conduct auction even if he willed so.

The SC ordered both the officers to trace the record.

Justice Jamal Mandokhail remarked record does not become available where refusal has to be made.

Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan said this matter is not so easy. Record be traced in details. Common man does not know if there are powers to trace the record or not. Disappearance of file is not an ordinary matter. If one employee wills so , he hides the file.

He said the officers should not take it as small matter.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.

The matter of 85 acres land of forest department in Pasrur and 666 kanals land in Gujarat is pending hearing in SC.

Punjab government has challenged orders of high court.
