Islamabad: At least four people were killed and four others injured in a horrific traffic accident at Athal Chowk in Bhara Kahu, Islamabad, police and hospital sources said.

According to initial reports, a speeding vehicle coming from Murree rammed into two cars and several motorcycles late Saturday night, causing multiple casualties.

Hospital sources confirmed that four people lost their lives in the accident, while four injured persons were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and later to other medical facilities for treatment.

Two of the deceased were identified as Muhammad Fazal and Aamir, while the identities of the remaining victims were being ascertained.

Police sources said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the collision. The damaged vehicle has been taken into custody and an investigation has been launched to trace and arrest the driver.

Authorities said the accident occurred at Athal Chowk in Bhara Kahu and further inquiries are underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.
