Rawalpindi: The fourth Hangor class submarine of the Pakistan Navy, named GHAZI, has been successfully launched at the Shuangliu Base in Wuhan, China, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.With the launching of GHAZI, the Pakistan Navy has achieved another major milestone, as all four submarines being constructed in China under the Hangor class project are now undergoing rigorous sea trials and are in the final stages of induction into the Pakistan Navy.According to ISPR, the Government of Pakistan had signed an agreement with China for the acquisition of eight Hangor class submarines. Under the agreement, four submarines are being built in China, while the remaining four will be constructed in Pakistan at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Limited (KSandEW) under a comprehensive Transfer of Technology (ToT) programme.The Hangor class submarines will be equipped with advanced weapons and state-of-the-art sensors capable of engaging targets at standoff ranges. ISPR stated that these submarines will play a pivotal role in maintaining peace, stability, and maritime deterrence in the region.The launching ceremony was attended by senior officials from Pakistan and China, reflecting the deepening bilateral cooperation and strong defence collaboration between the two countries.
