Fraud in the name of checking shops should be noticed. Ajmal Baloch

ISLAMABAD: President of All Pakistan Anjuman Tajran and Traders Action Committee Islamabad Ajmal Baloch and Secretary and Convener Traders Committee ICCI Khalid Chaudhary have said that the government has abolished the fixed sales tax from electricity bills, on which the business community has breathed a sigh of relief. But a new fraud has emerged in the name of checking electrical installations.

Interior Minister Rana Sana Ullah, Chief Commissioner ICT Aamir Ahmad Ali and Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon should immediately take notice and take action against the frauds in the name of electricity installations checking of shops. According to reports, some people have picked up a letter from the Government of Punjab Power Department and go to the shop in different markets saying that we have to inspect your shop and demand twelve thousand rupees.

They threaten fines and cut off electricity. When All Pakistan Anjuman Tajran contacted IESCO officials, they said that no such contract was given, while no order of the Punjab government is applicable to Islamabad capital, these people are frauds and cheat simple shopkeepers.

They further said that a few years ago the same people continued to commit fraud in Islamabad and the then Deputy Commissioner warned them not to come again. Officials of markets keep a watch on such frauds and inform the vendors and if found in any market, inform the concerned police. The capital Islamabad does not come under the Punjab government in any case, Islamabad has its own disaster management department. Beware of fraud.
