Islamabad: The funeral prayer of senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Senator Irfan Siddiqui was offered at the H-11 Graveyard in Islamabad. The prayer was led by Hafiz Naseem Khalil. A large number of people, including family members, federal cabinet members, parliamentarians, prominent personalities, close relatives, and local dignitaries, attended the funeral.
Among those present were Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal; Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry; Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar; Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam; Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar Advocate; Federal Minister Rana Muhammad Mubashir Iqbal; Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani; Adviser to the Prime Minister on Inter-Provincial Coordination Senator Rana Sanaullah Khan; Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi; Senator Pervaiz Rashid; Senator Nasir Mahmood Butt; former Senator Chaudhry Tanveer Khan; former Senator Lt. Gen. (Retd) Abdul Qayyum; Naib Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and former MNA Mian Muhammad Aslam; former Islamabad High Court Judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui; Senator Saleem Mandviwalla; Senator Malik Shahadat Awan; Senator Waqar Mehdi; Zamurd Khan; and many other senators, members of the National and Pr ovincial Assemblies, and party leaders.
Members of the federal cabinet, elected representatives, and party leaders offered prayers for the departed soul and expressed their heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family. Mourners from across the country gathered at the H-11 graveyard, where participants paid rich tribute to Irfan Siddiqui's services. His political, intellectual, and journalistic contributions were highly appreciated, and his passing has deeply saddened political and literary circles.
It is noteworthy that Irfan Siddiqui passed away on Monday after a brief illness. He had been under treatment at a private hospital in Islamabad for two weeks due to respiratory problems. Because of his illness, he did not participate in the voting process for the 27th Constitutional Amendment on Monday.
Irfan Siddiqui was the parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) in the Senate and was regarded as one of the closest associates of PML-N President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He was elected as a senator in March 2021 and also served as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.
