Lahore: Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance (PGTA) has announced to enhance goods fare by 20 percent due to increase in the prices of petroleum products.
Malik Shehzad Awan president PGTA said the price of diesel has been enhanced by Rs 78 per liter and price of petrol by Rs 68 per liter during the last two months. This has led to substantial rise in the expenses of transporters.
He held if the prices of petroleum products have been raised under some compulsion the government should announce to reduce toll tax and other taxes so that transporters could get some relief.
He said transporters are continuing import, export and business activities despite critical economic situation in the country. However persistent hike in prices of petroleum products affects not only transporters but also every Pakistani.
He demanded that federal government and Punjab and Sindh governments should implement forthwith the agreements executed with transporters.
If policies are not reviewed then transport throughout the country will be shut and its entire responsibility will lie with federal government.
