Government, PPP and Opposition Hold First Round of Talks at Parliament House

Islamabad: The first round of talks between the government, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and opposition concluded at Parliament House on Friday under the chairmanship of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

The participants held detailed discussions on the prevailing political situation and exchanged views on various matters of national importance.

Representatives of the government, PPP and opposition apprised one another of their respective positions and held discussions in a constructive and cordial atmosphere.

The participants emphasised the need to resolve national issues through dialogue and negotiations.

According to the National Assembly spokesperson, the second round of talks will be held tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chamber of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

Federal Ministers Ameer Muqam, Rana Sanaullah, Mohsin Naqvi, Talal Chaudhry and Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Senator Sherry Rehman, and MNAs Syed Naveed Qamar and Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani attended the meeting.

Opposition representatives included Barrister Gohar Khan, Raja Nasir Abbas, Malik Amir Dogar, former Speaker Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja and Haleem Adil Sheikh.

The National Assembly spokesperson said Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq played a key role in facilitating dialogue among the government, PPP and opposition.
