Govt contacts PPP through back door channel to seek cooperation in legislation

Islamabad: Government while making another attempt to seek the required cooperation for legislation in parliament has made contact with PPP through back door channel.

The PPP while regretting once again for cooperation in government legislation has decided to maintain its policy of non cooperation in parliament.

Sources said government circles requested PPP for cooperation in legislation related matters particularly support in respect of government bills at standing committees level in National Assembly (NA) and Senate.

Government expressed desire for PPP cooperation to take forward legislation process in standing committees.

According to PPP sources, party while giving reply in clear terms to government has said PPP will not support government in parliament in the prevailing situation and the policy for supporting government bills in standing committees, National Assembly and Senate will not be adopted.

The sources said PPP has issued clear directions on party policy to its parliamentarians.

Giving directions to members for not casting votes in support of government bills , it has been said proceedings will be initiated against the violators of party policy.

Sources said PPP will also not support government bill regarding local bodies election in Islamabad.

Bill regarding WAPDA was postponed in NA standing committee for water resources due to non cooperation by PPP.

Sources said government is facing difficulties in taking forward the process of legislation in parliament due to non cooperation from PPP.

On the other said government circles are continuing to make contacts with PPP to seek its support in the matters related to legislation.
