Islamabad: Government has deposited Rs 50 lakh on account financial aid in the account of wife of missing citizen.

Petition filed by Zainab Zaeem wife of missing person Omar Abdullah for recovery of her husband came up for hearing before Islamabad High Court (IHC) presided over by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani Monday.

The court was told that government has transferred Rs 5 million on account of financial assistance in the account of wife of missing person.

Khalid Abbasi advocate father of Omar Abdullah informed the court about this development.

Representative of ministry of defence also appeared in the court on the occasion.

The court was given in-camera briefing.

During the hearing of the case Additional Attorney General (AAG) presented report about missing citizen in the court. He requested that court should review this report ahead of in-camera briefing.

The counsel for the petitioner reminded the court IHC had imposed fine on the then IG, interior secretary, secretary defence, SSP and investigation officer in 2018 in missing person case.

However these orders have not been implemented so far.

The counsel further said investigation officer had acknowledged before this court in 2017 that Omar Abdullah is victim of enforced disappearance.

The court while giving stern remarks raised the question what action was taken against the then IG. May be he has been retired.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani inquired what steps were taken against the SSP and investigation officers.

He made it clear it was court's order that deductions be made from the salaries of involved officers. But apparently these officers may be drawing salaries and pension..

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani while expressing indignation on non initiation of any action despite court's orders said he will include in writing this situation in today's court's order.

Later the hearing of the case was adjourned.
