Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has remarked during hearing of smog eradication case government is looking serious for protection of environment. The petitions filed regarding eradication of smog came up for hearing before Justice Shahid Karim in LHC Tuesday.

Advocate General (AG) Punjab Amjid Pervaiz appeared in the court. While informing the court about Canal Road Yellow Train project during the hearing of the case AG told PC-1 of the said project has not been worked out so far. No formal record or documents is available related to Canal road project.

Amjid Pervaiz assured the court if government brings yellow train project on canal road then its PC-1 will be presented in the court. Court issued clear directives on the occasion if any such project is presented then it should be ensured no harm is caused to trees. Small trees on Canal road have now grown larger. Years long hard-work is included in their growth. This area has been declared national heritage.

The court appreciated AG Punjab Amjid Pervaiz for providing serious legal assistance.

Commending the steps taken by Punjab government with reference to environment protection court remarked government looks very serious about environment and is taking practical steps too. Court was hearing the petitions filed by citizen Haroon Farooq and others whereby they have demanded effective government steps for elimination of smog and environmental pollution.
