Islamabad: A meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad decided to implement an emergency comprehensive plan to address water shortage in the federal capital.

It was decided that dams will be constructed for the twin cities in collaboration between the CDA and Punjab government.

The meeting reviewed short-term and long-term measures to increase water supply in the twin cities.

Proposals to address shortcomings in the current water supply system in Islamabad were discussed.

Emphasis was laid on identifying flaws in the water distribution network and the need for an efficient delivery system.

WAPDA and CDA presented various options, feasibility reports and expected timelines to increase water supply.

It was decided that Dotara Dam will be completed in two years.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi ordered strict crackdown against water theft and misuse of connections.

He directed immediate and effective measures to ensure water supply for the residents. He directed that under a short-term plan, all resources should be utilized to ensure the provision of water.
