Govt would ensure transparent distribution of Nigehban Ramazan Package

ATTOCK: Member district monitoring committee and former provincial Minister Jehangir Khanzada has said the Punjab government is making every possible effort to provide relief to the people from inflation and price hike. He was talking to newsmen after reviewing the stock and supply of subsidized food items at a utility store outlet at Hazro on Monday.'The Punjab government's mission to take care of the poor and keep the essential prices low. It was a challenge for our government to control inflation during Ramazan besides ration is being provided to 6.5 million people at their doorsteps through Nighaban Ramadan package'. Khanzada added. He said a historic and transparent relief package is being given to the public with a huge amount of Rs 30 billion. He added that as many as 13 items are available at 25 percent discounted rates at 51 agriculture fair price shops across Punjab. 'The Punjab government is making every possible effort to provide relief to the people. It is our government's mission to take care of the poor and keep the prices low. It was a challenge for our government to control inflation during Ramazan.' Mr Khanzada said while answering a question. He said that there was a mechanism devised to verify the deserving people and record the receiving chit, so the bags should not be given to anyone to distribute on behalf of the government. He said the Punjab government had activated a helpline, 080002345, to resolve the complaints of citizens regarding hoarding and the Nighaban Ramadan package.
