Karachi: Alkhidmat Karachi, in collaboration with Lucky Core Industries (LCI), organized a Mega Tree Plantation Drive at Muhammad bin Khaleel Arab Park, North Nazimabad, in connection with World Environment Day. The initiative aims to contribute towards making Karachi a greener and more environmentally sustainable city.
A large number of student volunteers from colleges and universities associated with Alkhidmat, along with workers and organizational representatives, participated in the plantation drive. The campaign was inaugurated by Executive Director Alkhidmat Karachi, Rashid Qureshi. Also present on the occasion was Lucky Core Industries’ Manager SHE (Safety, Health and Environment), Zeeshan Iqbal. Rashid Qureshi and Zeeshan Iqbal formally launched the campaign by planting saplings, watering them, and offering prayers for their growth and success. Volunteers planted trees across different areas of the park and pledged to play their role in making their city and environment greener and healthier.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director Alkhidmat Karachi Rashid Qureshi said that the partnership between Alkhidmat and LCI reflects a shared commitment to building a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Karachi. He noted that Alkhidmat conducts annual plantation campaigns, planting thousands of trees across the city while also raising awareness among the younger generation about the importance of a clean and green environment. He stated that Pakistan is currently facing severe climatic challenges and emphasized that one of the most effective ways to control rising temperatures is through large-scale tree plantation. ‘The more trees we plant, the better we can regulate temperatures and improve the overall environment,’ he said.
Rashid Qureshi appealed to citizens to actively support Alkhidmat’s plantation campaign and contribute towards environmental conservation.
Speaking at the event, Lucky Core Industries’ Manager SHE, Zeeshan Iqbal, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with Alkhidmat on the plantation drive. He said that tree plantation is an effective way to address the challenges arising from climate change and environmental degradation. He added that such initiatives will help improve weather conditions, enhance air quality, and contribute to a healthier and more sustainable environment for future generations.
