Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced Rs10 million in compensation for each family of those killed in the deadly Gul Plaza fire in Karachi.
He added the compensation process will begin from tomorrow, once documentation is completed.
Addressing a press conference, the chief minister confirmed that 15 bodies have so far been recovered from the site, while 22 people sustained minor injuries and have since returned home. 65 people are missing.
He said an inquiry committee led by commissioner Karachi has been constituted to probe into the incident. Commissioner Karachi has been asked to estimate the loss.
We have requested forensic department Lahore to conduct forensic of the fire incident.
Committee has been constituted for rehabilitation of affectees. The affected shops will be shifted to some other site.
We will be able to ascertain after inquiry who committed mistake. The responsible will be punished.
