Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Tuesday urged the government to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) in response to Indian hostilities, saying that his party would take the initiative if the government fails to act.Addressing a press conference at Mansoora, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman criticized the mainstream ruling and opposition parties for not condemning US on its support to Israeli hostilities in Gaza. 'PML-N, PPP, and PTI shy away from condemning Washington. They are locked in a competition to win America's blessings," he remarked.He said Nawaz Sharif is not speaking against India and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is busy courting the United States. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman slammed the government for approving massive salary increases for ministers via presidential ordinances ahead of the upcoming budget. "The salaried class, small farmers, and common citizens are being squeezed to reward an already privileged elite. Despite the government's claims of economic improvement, th e public remains unaffected," he said. Government, he said, should grant tax exemptions on monthly salaries of up to Rs120,000.Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said India had launched a false flag operation in Pahalgam and initiated water aggression against Pakistan. "The Modi regime must be globally exposed for its Hindutva-driven policies, he said, adding Pakistan must adopt an aggressive diplomatic posture, take China and other allies into confidence. 'There is no need to adopt apologetic tone at the United Nations and to fear the U.S. The entire nation and the armed forces are ready to defend the homeland.'Calling for national preparedness, he demanded the revival of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) program. He also demanded the lifting of the ban on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Turning to Gaza, the JI chief condemned an unfolding famine caused by Israel's blockade and military aggression. "By attacking the Freedom Flotilla, the Zionist forces have crossed all limits of terrorism. Israel is using foo d as a weapon against Palestinians while the world remains silent. The U.S. is fully backing Israel, and aside from a few Islamic countries, the rest are merely watching. The OIC, too, has failed to take concrete action," he said.Hafiz Naeemur Rehman reiterated his call for Pakistan to take a leadership role against Israeli aggression. There is dire need intensify the boycott campaign against companies benefiting Israel, he said.He also urged the government to strengthen national unity by addressing the grievances of Balochistan, resolving the issue of missing persons, and restoring peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 'Small farmers should be given relief not through loans, but by reducing the prices of agricultural inputs. The feudal elite must be taxed, and electricity prices should be aligned with actual costs. Only by providing genuine relief to the nation can we stand firm against our enemies,' he concluded.
