Islamabad: District and Sessions Court Islamabad has acquitted house maid in Rs 25 crore theft case.
The court said no witness could be presented by prosecution despite repeated chances were given. The maid servant is charged with theft of millions of rupees but only Rs 2000 have been recovered. .
The case of theft of about Rs 25 crore came up for hearing in district and sessions court Islamabad.
Judicial magistrate Islamabad East Rizwan ud Din approved acquittal plea of accused Rukhsana Bibi.
It may be mentioned that case of theft of 4 lac rupees, 5 lac British pounds and 5 lac Saudi rials was registered against house maid. .
A woman who is resident of PWD colony had registered case of theft against house maid in police station Lohi Bher in January 2024.
Habib Hanzala advocate appeared on behalf of the accused in the court.
The court remarked during the hearing of the case that as per defence counsel the accused is innocent who was implicated in false case on malafide intent.
The accused was indicted on September 18, 2025. Several chances were given to the prosecution to present evidence. But no witness could be presented by the prosecution despite several chances were given to it.
As per court's decision if the evidence of the prosecution are recorded in the light of available record even then chance of sentencing the accused is next to nil. It is unbelievable that such a huge amount is kept in home and key is handed over to house maid. No legal or documentary evidences regarding presence of foreign currency or theft were presented.
The court remarked the story of the prosecution is highly suspicious and it is set principle of law that benefit of doubt goes to the accused always. Precious time will be wasted due to further court's proceedings which can be used for real cases.
According to court the neighbors informed the plaintiff about entry of house maid in the home. But no statement of any one under section 161 is available. Therefore, the accused Rukhsana Bibi is acquitted under section 249-A of criminal procedure.
