Islamabad: President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has reaffirmed the Chamber's commitment to transform all business centres of the federal capital into model commercial hubs through active collaboration with relevant authorities.
Addressing a delegation from the Traders Welfare Association (TWA) F-8 Markaz, led by General Secretary Ismail Khan, Sardar Tahir Mehmood emphasized that ICCI is focused on key issues including encroachments, security, structural upgradation, parking, cleanliness, sewage, and street lighting to create a modern and business-friendly environment in Islamabad.
He assured the market representatives of ICCI's full commitment to resolving longstanding issues. 'We have initiated concrete steps to remove illegal structures and obstacles, aiming to restore the true commercial identity of F-8 Markaz and make it a secure, organized, and exemplary business centre,' he said.
On security, Sardar Tahir Mehmood informed the delegation that multiple combing and search operations had been conducted in coordination with local police and TWA to ensure traders' and visitors' safety. He also highlighted infrastructure improvements, noting that one water filtration plant has already been installed with support from former ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, and another is expected to become operational within a month.
'With unity, cooperation, and mutual trust, we will make F-8 Markaz a role model for all other markets of Islamabad,' he said.
Senior Vice President ICCI assured traders of the Chamber's continued facilitation and efforts to promote an ease-of-doing-business environment across the city. Vice President Mohammad Irfan Chaudhry said that resolving traders' issues would remain a top priority, urging close coordination between the business community and ICCI for sustainable progress.
Speaking on the occasion, President TWA Blue Area, Yousuf Rajput, and President All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran, Ajmal Baloch, praised Sardar Tahir Mehmood's leadership and expressed confidence in his tenure. Other speakers, including General Secretary TWA F-8 Ismail Khan, Senior Vice President Saeed Khan Swati, and Vice President Mohammad Usman, also lauded ICCI initiatives and urged authorities, particularly the Capital Development Authority (CDA), to prioritize traders' concerns.
The meeting was attended by ICCI Executive Members Malik Abdul Aziz, Zulqurnain Abbasi, Umer Khayyam Abbasi, former Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry, and other officials.
