Islamabad: The court has issued notice to PMDC on the petition filed against sudden change in MDCAT policy.
The petition against sudden change in MDCAT examinations and registration policy of admission came up for hearing in Islamabad High Court (IHC).
During the hearing of the case, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of IHC directed Raja Rizwan Abbasi counsel for medical students to file his written submissions.
The court remarked during the hearing of the case this matter is basically of provincial nature because the most of the powers related to the educational matters have been shifted to the provinces after 18th constitutional amendment.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir remarked during the hearing this is provincial matter. It is being talked of bringing it to the federation now. Every province can form its policy by itself. The stance of Sindh or some other province can be different. Their own registration related problems of colleges are also running which cannot be ignored.
Counsel Raja Rizwan Abbasi told the court due to new policy the students who have passed examination last year are facing difficulties because the powers and process of registration has been changed suddenly.
He said transferring powers of PMDC to colleges is against the rules and regulations while PMDC should decide the matters related to examination and registration.
The court inquired from the counsel he should tell what violation has been committed so that order could be issued according to it.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir said if the matter is clear under the law then court will not avoid from issuing proper order.
Counsel Rizwan Abbasi took the plea this matter is clear under section 47 and PMDC should be directed to adopt uniform policy in all provinces so that the students could not face difficulties.
On resumption of hearing after interval the court issued notice to PMDC authorities and summoned them on Friday.
The court rejected the plea of the petitioner for issuing stay order immediately.
The counsel had taken the plea today is the last date of registration
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir said we have issued notice. We will seek reply from PMDC on Friday.
