Dadyal: Chairman Pakistan People's Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while addressing an election rally in Dadyal, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, said that these are the most significant elections in the history of AJK.Chairman PPP said that the current situation is a test for the state of Kashmir and Pakistan, along with all political parties and politicians. Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto have taught us to represent the downtrodden masses. The duty of the politicians is to reduce the distance between the people of Kashmir and the capital, as well as the international stage. The politicians of Kashmir have to act as a bridge so that the voice of the people can reach Islamabad. When a political crisis takes place, then apolitical and extremist elements take advantage of it. This election is an opportunity for the people of Dadyal and Azad Kashmir to give PPP the responsibility to be their voice, as it is our pledge to represent them, be it in Muzaffarabad, Islamabad or th e international community, Chairman PPP expressed his resolve. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, taught us to spill our blood where the sweat of Kashmiris is spilled, he said.Chairman Bilawal said that when the protestors wrote him a letter, he responded by suggesting the formation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to address the issues of Kashmir. If this proposal is appropriate in the eyes of the state of Pakistan and the protestors, we can pave the path forward. Bilawal Bhutto said that his request to the protesters would be to dismantle the protest once such a Commission is formed. He added that if the protesters are willing to comply, he would request the State of Pakistan to put its action on hold until the Commission reaches a conclusion.Chairman PPP said that no response has yet been received from either party. He added that while neither side is compelled to agree with their proposal, if not this, then what solution remains for both the protesters and the state?Chairman Bilawal said that while protesting is a fundamental right, conducting protests in a manner that results in shortages of food, fuel and medicines only harms the people of Kashmir. He said that the protesters are taking their revenge for the shortcomings of the government out on the people of Kashmir. However, he added that the government, too, is punishing the people of Kashmir instead of the protesters, as internet services remain suspended. Chairman PPP demanded that both the protesters and those running the state leave enough space for ordinary Kashmiris so that they do not face unnecessary hardships. He urged both sides to provide relief to the people of Kashmir until the Commission is formed and reaches a solution.Chairman PPP said that if the State of Pakistan can mediate between the United States and Iran and help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, then it should also help reopen Kashmir. He said that the relationship between the Pakistan Peoples Party and Kashmir spans three generations. He added that Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Z ulfikar Ali Bhutto, together with the people, gave the country its first unanimous Constitution as well as nuclear capability. He further said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto gave Pakistan missile technology, while President Asif Ali Zardari restored the 1973 Constitution and gave Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa their constitutional identity. Chairman PPP said that it is now the responsibility of his generation to stand shoulder to shoulder with him to carry forward this struggle and advance the cause of Kashmir within Pakistan and at the international level.Chairman Bilawal said that the 'right to rule, right to ownership and right to employment' is the slogan of every Kashmiri and Pakistani. These three basic principles have been a part of the PPP's manifesto since the past two elections. The people of GB broke the myth that those in power in Islamabad form the government in GB as well, and the PPP witnessed a historic triumph. Chairman PPP said that the people of Azad Kashmir will break this myth too.Chairman PPP said that as the youngest foreign minister of Pakistan, he fought the battle for the right to ownership on an international level, and he raised the slogan of 'Plebiscite', on the international level, in the United Nations and OIC. He was the first Pakistani Foreign Minister in a decade to set foot on Indian soil, and after calling Modi the 'Butcher of Gujarat', a price had been placed on his head. However, despite these risks, he had maintained that the people of Kashmir must be granted their rights.Chairman PPP said that, within Pakistan as well, the PPP is the only party capable of fighting for the ownership rights of the people of Kashmir. He added that as many rights as possible should be granted to the people of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.Chairman PPP said that the PPP has decided to hold constitutional conventions in GB and Kashmir after the elections take place. We will give stakeholders the opportunity to present their views on potential legislative measures. He said tha t the PPP has presented its view regarding the refugee seats, and it is that while protecting refugee votes, we should legislate so that only Kashmir can decide its future. Chairman Bilawal said that just as Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto secured the Observor Status for Kashmir in the OIC, we want a similar interim status for them in NFC, CCI and other forums. Chairman PPP further said that there is no need for the ministry for Kashmir affairs, as there should be complete empowerment. The government of Kashmir should be permitted to have a Foreign Minister who can become a part of the federal cabinet and represent.Chairman Bilawal said that the main difference between the PPP and its counterparts is that we believe in the people owning the mountains and rivers, no one else. The Modi government introduced certain legislative measures in Occupied Kashmir to usurp their land. However, the philosophy of the PPP is to give the people the right to ownership. Moreover, while the rest of the parties believe in mak ing the rich richer, the PPP believes that as long as the common man does not prosper, then we cannot call it progress. This is why the PPP has always presented pro-people manifestos. Chairman PPP said that he vows to fight not only the battle of the right to rule or the right to ownership for the Kashmiri people, but also the right to employment.Bilawal Bhutto urged the people to come out and vote in large numbers despite the current situation. He said that only the PPP can take the necessary and historic decisions that will benefit Kashmir.Chairman PPP said that his political counterparts do not even consider Mirpur, Kotli and Rawalakot to be part of Kashmir. He asked what kind of lion it is to have swallowed Dadyal, Mirpur, Kotli and Rawalakot from the map of Kashmir. He further said that the PPP has defeated the politics of hatred and division, whether in Karachi, Balochistan or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that he had given the individual an opportunity to clarify his position, but he had remained ada mant. If he remains adamant on this position, Chairman Bilawal said, then he has no right to hold the responsibility of a federal office.Chairman PPP said that PM Shehbaz Sharif should clarify whether the statements made by the Federal Minister for Defence reflect the official position of the government. He added that another member of the federal cabinet had claimed that 12 seats of Kashmir were 'in their pocket'.Chairman Bilawal said that the PPP's representative from Sialkot must emerge victorious because the PPP believes that Mirpur, Kotli and Rawalakot are part of Kashmir. He reiterated that only the people of Kashmir have the right to determine their own future. He concluded by urging the people of Dadyal to vote for PPP's representative, Afsar Shahid in the upcoming election.
