IG Islamabad files report in SC about PTI long march

ISLAMABAD: IG Police Islamabad has filed report in Supreme Court (SC) about PTI Long March.

It has been said in the report application was given by PTI to Islamabad administration for staging protest on Srinagar Highway on May 23. Islamabad administration while implementing  SC  decision in letter and spirit not only provided venue to PTI for public meeting but also made proper arrangement for the security of public meeting. The administration closed the ways leading to red zone for security threats. Police , Rangers and FC were stopped from taking any action against the demonstrators after SC orders.

 

The report said despite SC clear directives the demonstrators started going towards D Chowk on May 25 evening in groups.  The leadership  had persuaded the  protesters to remove the hurdles and resist the police. The demonstrators were armed who pelted stones on police and Rangers. Heavy machinery was used by the demonstrators to remove containers. They set  ablaze the trees. About 2000 demonstrators under the leadership of Imran Ismail, Saif Ullah Niazi, Zaraj Gill and others entered into red zone by removing the hurdles. Police used tear gas and to remove  the protesters. The demonstrators entered into red zone in an organized manner under party leadership. Fawad Chaudhry, Saif Ullah Niazi and Zartaj  Gull provoked the demonstrators to reach D Chowk.

 

Through social media statements the demonstrators were asked to reach red zone to welcome Imran Khan. The administration made announcements that the demonstrators should stay away from red zone. Necessary steps were taken to stop the demonstrators from entering into red zone. 23 security personnel were injured due to pelting stones by the demonstrators.  Police  avoided utmost from using force. When the apprehensions   increased then army was  called in under article 245 of the constitution. About 200 to 300 demonstrators entered into red zone by removing containers.  There was no hurdle for the demonstrators to reach the venue of public meeting in between G-9 and H-9. No one among the demonstrators reached the venue allocated for public meeting. Police arrested 77 persons in 19 different cases.
