IHC bans packing of food items in sub-standard sacks

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has imposed ban on packing food items in sub standard sacks.

Justice Azam Khan of IHC has issued written decision.

The decision said packing floor in old cement sacks is causing cancer like diseases.

IHC has directed federal food ministry and all the four provinces to take joint action.

IHC directed that chief secretaries and food authorities should implement this decision in their respective areas sternly.

Pakistan standard and quality control authority and ministry of food should file complete report in the court within three months.

Country wide crack -down be launched at large scale against such sacks within 30 days.

IHC ordered law is not meant for decoration of books but it is designed for protection of life and property of people. It has been said in the order raids be conducted on factories , godowns, shops involved in making sub standard sacks and goods be seized.

Not only fine be imposed on the law breakers but also cases be registered against them and they be arrested too.
