Islamabad: Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan of Islamabad High Court (IHC) has expressed resentment over not filing report by federal government in the case related to release , health and return of Dr Aafia Siddiqui to Pakistan.
The court has given indication to issue contempt of court notice to Prime Minister (PM) and federal ministers besides summoning them in the court.
Imran Shafiq counsel for Dr Fouzia Siddiqui and Additional Attorney General (AAG) Rashid Hafeez appeared in the court during the hearing of petition filed by Dr Fouzia Siddiqui.
Justice Ejaz Ishaq Khan inquired from AAG that the report regarding the reasons for refusing to provide assistance in Dr Aafia matter was sought which has not been presented so far in the court.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan remarked if report was not presented then the entire federal cabinet would be summoned in the court. As to why the contempt of court proceedings be not initiated against all the ministers of federal cabinet. This court can not only initiate proceedings against the cabinet but also can initiate proceedings against the PM too.
The court made it clear reply was sought from federal government in June but no report has so far been received.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan while giving time of three days to federation remarked the report be presented at every cost.
AAG sought time for 5 working days.
Later the court adjourned the hearing of the case till July 21 on the request of AAG.
On this occasion Imran Shafiq counsel for Dr Fouzia Siddiqui made mention of filing miscellaneous petition regarding meeting with PM and cabinet.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan remarked Fouzia Siddiqui will do what by meeting the PM. Is the matter of Aafia Siddiqui not in the knowledge of PM.
The court made it clear no more delay will be tolerated. Federal government report be presented during next hearing on July 21 at every cost.
