Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given last chance to Council for Islamic Ideology (CII) to give reply on the matter of declaring Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza guilty of blasphemy.

The court has adjourned the hearing of the case till November 12.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani has remarked this proceedings has been initiated on the opinion of CII. According to this new concept all blasphemy related cases should be sent to CII.

The petition seeking nullification of CII resolution on declaring Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza came up for hearing in IHC Wednesday.

CII did not file written reply.

The court accepted plea for granting more time for filing reply.

The court gave last chance of one week to CII for filing reply.

The decision of Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza for becoming respondent in the case came to fore during the hearing. Miscellaneous petition in this regard was filed.

However registrar office raised objection over it.

The counsel told the court Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza too had filed petition for becoming respondent in this case. There are objections over the petition. Therefore, it is not before the court today.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked remove the objection first then we will pass order on the plea for becoming respondent in the case.

Counsel Dr Aslam Khaki took the plea CII has transgressed its powers. CII can give its opinion if it is sought by president or governor of the province.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked may be it has been delegated powers for investigation.

The counsel requested the court to suspend CII resolution regarding Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked it will become a bit difficult. Reply from other side has not come so far. I cannot issue interim order unless I see the reply of other side. I am giving only one week time . I will pass order if reply does not come.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till November 12.
