IHC stops from moving ahead in the proceedings for returning 18 Afghan citizens

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has stopped from moving ahead in the proceedings for returning 18 Afghan citizens.

The court while issuing notice to Interior ministry , NADRA, DG Immigration , FIA and police has sought reply from them.

The court has directed the respondents to file parawise reply on next hearing besides ordering any proceedings against the petitioners is too stopped. The hearing of the case is adjourned till September 18, 2025.

Chief Justice (CJ) IHC Sarfraz Dogar issued written order in respect of Afghan citizens petition. It has been told therein counsels Adil Aziz Qazi and others had appeared in the court during the hearing.

As per court's orders the court revoked POR cards of the petitioners on August 4 and ordered to return.

According to counsel the petitioners belong to late Fazlur Rehman family who had applied for the citizenship in 2008 by fulfilling all requirements.

According to counsel no action has been taken so far on the application for citizenship.
