Ijtima-e-Aam to mark beginning of movement against injustice: Monem Zafar

Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan has said that JI is the only political and religious force in Karachi and across Pakistan that stands firmly against oppression, injustice, and the corrupt system.Monem Zafar Khan expressed these views while addressing two party conventions on the weekend in district East and North of Karachi.Speaking on the occasion, he said that if the people of Karachi today face severe crises such as electricity shortages, water scarcity, poor sewerage, and dilapidated roads, the real reason lies in the incompetence, corruption, and apathy of the ruling elite. He stated that Karachi's power crisis, water shortages, sewerage failures, and broken roads are known to everyone - and the only voice consistently raised against these injustices is that of JI. 'We led the public movement against K-Electric's exploitation, challenged the unjust e-challan fines in court, and defended citizens' rights at every forum,' he said.Monem Zafar pointed out that women and gi rls in Karachi were facing the worst transport crisis. 'The city has been handed over to chhngchi rickshaw and dumper mafias. Millions of women are forced to travel daily in substandard and unsafe vehicles. It is shameful for the rulers that a city of 35 million people has only 300 public buses,' he remarked. He emphasized that all efforts must be united for a larger purpose - the establishment of a system based on justice. 'In continuation of this struggle, JI has announced a grand national gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore, on November 21, 22, and 23, under the slogan 'Change the System.' This gathering will mark the beginning of a new and organized movement against the system of oppression,' he said.'This is the same venue where the Pakistan Resolution was passed on March 23, 1940 - where the dream of an independent Islamic state took shape. Now, it is time to begin a new movement from the same ground for the implementation of the Islamic way of life and the true freedom of Pakistan,' he added.Mon em Zafar said that Pakistan is blessed with immense resources but lacks sincere leadership with honesty and a spirit of service. 'Feudal lords, landlords, and corrupt capitalists continue to exploit the people's rights, but JI, through the trust and collective strength of the people, will change this system,' he asserted.Monem Zafar further said that under the name of e-challan, Karachi's citizens are being unfairly fined amounts ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000, whereas in cities like Lahore, Islamabad, and Multan, the same fines are limited to just Rs 200. 'This is open discrimination and injustice against Karachi's citizens. JI not only challenged this in court but also raised public awareness on the issue,' he said.He added that JI is also active against the commercialization of public parks, illegal encroachments, and the plundering of city resources. 'We are fighting in the courts as well as on the streets to ensure justice and resolve civic issues,' he said.
