Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the appeal in regard to physical remand in illegal appointments case against former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi due to withdrawal of appeal.

The court remarked when appeal has been withdrawn then there is no room for academic debate therein.

A two members bench of SC led by Justice Hashim Kakar took up the case for hearing.

During the hearing of the case legal team of Pervaiz Elahi requested to withdraw the appeal filed against physical remand.

Justice Hashim Kakar inquired has this appeal not become in- fructuous.

Counsel Aamir Saeed Ran replied there is legal question in the case.

Justice Hashim Kakar said you want to make debate in an in -fructuous matter.

The counsel told the court the state appeal against bail has already been dismissed.

The bench remarked " withdraw the appeal and go to respective forum.

The court rejected the appeal being withdrawn.

It is pertinent to mention here case has been registered against Pervaiz Elahi in connection with illegal appointments in Punjab Assembly and this case is pending hearing on different forums.
