Illegal appointments in WWB: SHC issues notice to respondents

Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notice to Chairman, secretary welfare workers welfare board Sindh and other respondents after hearing preliminary arguments in constitutional petition against alleged illegal appointments in Workers Welfare Board (WWB) during the last five years.

The court has sought reply till August 18.

Preliminary hearing of the constitutional petition against alleged illegal appointments made in WWB during the last five years was held in SHC.

The counsel for the petitioner took the plea over 500 appointments were made in WWB during 2021 to 2026 against the rules and regulations.

Neither prescribed legal method was adopted in making appointments nor the norms of the transparency were met.

The administration of the board neither gave advertisements for several posts nor were the verbal and written examinations held. As per law and policy written test, interview and selection on merit is must.

But the respective authorities made these appointments by neglecting all these requirements. Due to it the equal opportunities of deserving candidates were affected.

Chairman Workers Welfare Board Sindh, secretary board and other respective authorities have been made respondents in the petition.

The petitioner has requested the court all the appointments made during 2021 to 2026 be declared illegal and null and void. Orders be also issued for taking action against the responsible persons as per law.

The court issued these orders upon it.
