Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) has maintained immediate arrest is must following rejection of bail before arrest plea.

A 4-page written decision announced under Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Khan Afridi said arrest cannot be stopped merely by filing petition in SC. Interim security is not automatic process but it is essential formal permission is obtained from the court in this regard.

According to decision bail plea of accused Zahid Khan and others was rejected by Lahore High Court (LHC). Despite it police took no practical step in connection with arrest till six months.

The court declared it an impediment on the way to justice remarking immediate implementation of court's orders is base of justice.

According to SC IG Police Punjab admitted negligence of police and assured for issuing circular regarding implementation of court's orders.

The court maintained delay in arrest by police cannot be made justification for facilitation of administration because such illegal delay hurts the justice system and trust of people. Avoidance from arrest is not possible even if appeal is pending hearing unless any order is issued by the court.

The court wrapped up appeal on its withdrawal by the counsel for the petitioner.
