Inaugural meeting of the Pakistan-Trkiye JSC on Security, Defence and Intelligence held in Islamabad: FO Spokesperson

Islamabad: The inaugural meeting of the Pakistan-Trkiye Joint Standing Committee (JSC) on Security, Defence and Intelligence was held on Thursday in Islamabad. The Turkish delegation was led by Director General for South Asia, Ambassador Cihad Erginay, and the Pakistani side was headed by Additional Secretary (Afghanistan and West Asia), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Syed Ali Asad Gillani.

According to a statement issued by Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, the JSC on Security, Defence and Intelligence was created after the 7th Session of High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) between Pakistan and Trkiye on 12-13 February 2025.

Both sides discussed emerging geo-political trends including global and regional security issues.

The deliberations of the JSC will contribute to preparations for the Joint Commission co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan and the Foreign Minister of Trkiye.

Pakistan and Trkiye enjoy a strong historic and multi-faceted relationship rooted in shared religious, cultural and strategic ties. Both countries continue to work closely across a broad spectrum of areas, including defence, trade, energy, transport, culture, tourism, education, defence industries, agriculture, health, science and technology.
