Islamabad: Information ministry has sought time from Islamabad High Court (IHC) for filing reply to the petition against illegal appointment of chairperson PEMRA Ambreen Jan.

Writ petition has been filed under No 2026/2791 against illegal appointment of chairman PEMRA Ambreen Jan.

The petition came up for hearing in the court of Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of IHC.

Deputy registrar of Cabinet division said in the court cabinet division has no relevance with it because cabinet division was bypassed in this matter.

The counsels for ministry of information, PEMRA and Ambreen Jan requested for adjournment for filing reply.

Shahid Mehmood Khokhar advocate counsel for the petitioner said the respondents are using dilatory tactics intentionally.

He requested the court to fix the case soon because this matter is of larger public interest.

The court remarked it could suspend the notification of appointment of Ambreen Jan on the first day of hearing but restraint was exercised despite plea from the counsel of the petitioner.

The court made it clear this is last chance for filing reply by the respondents.

Hearing of the case was adjourned till August 5, 2026.
