ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) while ordering Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad to  hold inquiry afresh in Senior journalist Mohsin Baig violence case  maintaining the court be told about FIA personnel who were involved in the violence against the senior  journalist..

FIA petition against Additional Sessions judge Zafar Iqbal orders for registration of case against the FIA personnel involved in subjecting senior journalist Mohsin Baig to violence in police custody came up for hearing before a single bench of IHC led by Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah here Wednesday.

The court remarked it has become clear that SHO committed grave mistakes in this matter and trespassed his powers. SHO Margalla police allowed FIA personnel to enter into the  police station  he got  senior journalist Mohsin Baig who was in custody of police subjected to violence by FIA personnel.

The CJ IHC Athar Minallah  while addressing SHO Margalla police sub inspector Khurram Shahzad  asked under what powers he allowed the FIA personnel to  enter into police station. Are you facilitator of FIA. How can FIA subject to violence an arrested person who is in  your custody. If this is  your attitude with senior  journalists then what treatment you mete out to common citizen in the police station. Common citizen has not even access to this court. Should such person  remain SHO. What should we do about the law regarding citizen freedom. Is this law confined to books only.

During the  hearing of the case FIA Prosecutor took the plea FIA took action in the matter within its powers. The court should order to expunge the part of additional  sessions judge order pertaining to registration of case against FIA personnel.

CJ IHC Athar Minallah remarked if some citizen has committed mistake even then law enforcement agencies have no powers to overstep  their powers.

The hearing of the case  was adjourned till July 01.
