Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference Concludes, Adopts Islamabad Communiqu©

Islamabad: The Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC) concluded in Islamabad with the adoption of the historic Islamabad Communiqu©. Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, while addressing the closing session, described terrorism as one of the gravest global threats, emphasizing that its elimination requires not only military measures but also parliamentary cooperation, financial oversight, and collective political will. He condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Islamabad and Wana, stating: 'Terrorists have no religion or nation; they are enemies of humanity.'

Chairman Senate Gilani highlighted Pakistan's sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and reaffirmed the country's commitment to global peace, stability, and dialogue. He also underlined the urgent global challenge of climate change, calling for collective strategies to address terrorism, extremism, climate crises, and humanitarian challenges. He emphasized parliaments as key drivers for international cooperation and global action.

During the session, Chairman Senate presented the Islamabad Communiqu©, which was jointly adopted by participating speakers of parliaments.
