Justice Amin ud Din Khan expected to be appointed as CJ FCC

Islamabad: Head of Supreme Court constitutional bench Justice Amin ud Din Khan is expected to be appointed as Chief Justice (CJ) of Federal Constitutional Court (FCC).

He is likely to be administered oath today (Thursday).

Initially 6 other judges will be included in FCC. Four judges will be taken from Supreme Court (SC) and two from high court.

The name which are being considered initially are

Just­ice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Musa­rrat Hilali, Justice Aamer Far­ooq, and Justice Baqar Najafi from the SC, while Justice K.K. Agha of the Sindh High Court and Justice Rozi Khan Bar­rech, the incumbent Chief Justice of Balochistan Hi­gh Court, are being considered from the high courts.

Initial number of judges of FCC will be determined through presidential order. Later the increase in the number of judges will become possible through parliament act.

President will administer oath to CJ FCC. The remaining judges will take oath from the newly-appointed Chief Justice.

Law ministry authorities have confirmed that president will issue order for appointment of judges on the recommendations of Prime Minister.

President will wield constitutional power for making appointments in newly established court under proposed amendment.
