Ishaq Dar says govt committed to empowering women

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar says the government is committed to empowering women and advancing welfare initiatives aimed at improving their socio-economic well-being.

Ishaq Dar said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Annual Charity Bazaar 2025, organized by the Pakistan Foreign Office Women's Association, in Islamabad on Sunday.

Ishaq Dar, along with Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, visited various stalls set up by participating countries at the event.

Addressing the ceremony, Ishaq Dar said PFOWA's commitment to humanitarian causes reflects service beyond duty and the highest values of public responsibility. He said the stalls set up by Pakistan's friendly countries symbolize cooperation and friendship.

He said our faith emphasizes the virtue of giving, and the work of the Pakistan Foreign Office Women's Association is a testament to this principle in action.

Ishaq Dar said PFOWA carries a proud legacy of generosity, extending its support not only to families of the Foreign Service but also to underprivileged communities across the country.

He noted that PFOWA has made tangible contributions in the fields of education, health, and social welfare.

He said the association's outreach during the recent floods, including contributions to the National Disaster Management Authority, the Prime Minister's Relief Fund, and support for PIMS and Polyclinic hospitals, demonstrates the organization's consistent impact on social development and humanitarian service.

Referring to his recent official engagements abroad, the Deputy Prime Minister said he returned late last night after attending the Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government in Moscow, followed by the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum in Brussels.

He said the visit to Brussels included the successful Pakistan-European Union 7th Strategic Dialogue and nearly two dozen bilateral meetings.

He said all this work, carried out by Foreign Office's team in the national interest, is extremely valuable.
