Islamabad: Islamabad remained free from any flood threat on Sunday afternoon as rainfall activity stayed limited and water levels in key drainage channels remained significantly below alert levels, according to the Flood Forecasting and Warning System (FFWS).

Official data recorded at 4:30 p.m. showed that the latest spell of rain began at 4:25 p.m., while the previous rainfall spell had occurred at 12:10 p.m.

Among the monitored rainfall gauging stations, the highest precipitation was recorded at Saidpur Village with 28 millimeters of rain. Bokra near CTTI I-12 and New Kattarian each received 1 millimeter of rainfall, while Golra, PMD H-8/2, Shamsabad, Katcheri, Pirwadhai and Gawalmandi recorded no rainfall.

The basin mean rainfall was measured at 4.93 millimeters.

Water level sensors indicated that the water level at Kattarian stood at 4.5 feet, while Gawalmandi recorded 1 foot.

Authorities stated that the current situation remains normal and all areas are clear.

According to FFWS, the pre-alert level at Kattarian is 11.4 feet, while Gawalmandi’s pre-alert threshold is 8.3 feet, indicating that current water levels remain well below warning limits.

Officials said monitoring of rainfall and drainage channels is continuing as part of routine flood preparedness measures during the monsoon season.
