LAHORE:Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, has announced that Jamaat-e-Islami will field its candidates in all 433 Union Councils and 9 Towns of Lahore for the upcoming local government elections, and will not enter into any seat adjustment or electoral alliance with any political party.
JI has been preparing for these elections since day one of the Local Government Act's approval and is fully prepared to contest based on its manifesto and organizational strength.He expressed these views while presiding over an important organizational meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore.
The meeting reviewed local government election preparations, organizational matters, and electoral strategies. Participants resolved that JI will participate vigorously in the elections to strengthen democracy, protect public rights, and establish an empowered local government system.
Ziauddin Ansari stated that JI will enter the electoral arena with its principled stance and will not make seat adjustments with any other party. I
n accordance with the 2018 decision of JI's Central Shura, the party will contest elections from its own platform and strive hard to win public support.He noted that JI has already approached the courts against certain controversial clauses of the Local Government Act to ensure a transparent, effective, and people-centric local system.
Furthermore, Ameer JI Lahore invited disgruntled workers and candidates of other political parties to participate in the local government elections from JI's platform, provided they are honest, upright, and meet the party's criteria.He made it clear that any attempt to delay local government elections will face stiff resistance, as grass-roots local bodies are vital for solving local problems.The meeting was attended by prominent leaders and organizational officials, including:
