JI Chief calls Pak-Saudi pact a step toward Muslim unity, urges inclusion of Iran and Turkey

Lahore: A Pakistan-Saudi agreement marks a significant step toward unity among Muslim countries, said Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, urging that other Islamic nations, particularly Iran and Turkey, also be included in such initiatives.Addressing the Central Shura meeting in Mansoorah, he expressed concern over rising public anger following incidents like the killings of innocent women and children in Wadi Tirah, warning that such events fuel distrust toward state institutions and create social distancing between citizens and authorities.Rehman criticized the United States for repeatedly vetoing UN resolutions on ceasefire, saying Washington was enabling Israel's ongoing attacks in Gaza. 'The U.S. stands firmly behind Israel. Its repeated vetoes of ceasefire resolutions are clear evidence of this support,' he said.He highlighted Israel's attacks on successive Muslim nations, noting that aggression against Qatar prompted reflection on the need for unity among Muslim countries. On regional issues, the JI chief stressed the importance of normalizing relations with Afghanistan and resolving the Taliban issue through dialogue, emphasizing that both countries can peacefully settle their problems through cooperation. The JI Emir called for systemic change, stating that real transformation requires a broad popular movement, which Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to leading. He criticized the ruling parties for failing to provide relief despite years in power, highlighting soaring prices of essentials like flour and sugar and citing the World Bank's recent report on rising poverty in Pakistan. He said that the upcoming Jalsa on November 21-23 at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore, would lay the groundwork for meaningful change in the country.
