Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan, accompanied by Karachi Vice Ameer and KMC Opposition Leader Advocate Saifuddin, has strongly condemned on Friday, an attempted house-grabbing incident that took place at B-60, Block 13-D/1, Gulshan-e-Iqbal.The JI leader made the demand during an urgent press conference held at the residence of the affected citizens, Muhammad Yameen and his son Muhammad Tahir.Monem Zafar Khan called upon the Chief Minister of Sindh, Home Minister, DIG, and SSP to order an immediate and transparent investigation into the incident. 'All armed attackers must be arrested without delay, and those responsible for facilitating this act - including their patrons - must be brought within the full grip of the law,' he said.He further demanded strict action against negligent police officials involved.He noted with concern that a few individuals pretending as lawyers or some within the legal profession are misusing the black coat for unlawful activities. He urged the K arachi Bar and Sindh Bar to look into the case and revoke the licenses of if some lawyers are involved in the attempted occupation and to initiate firm disciplinary proceedings.Detailing the incident, he said, approximately 50 to 60 armed individuals, allegedly with police support, stormed the house, opened fire, and attempted to seize the property. The attempt was thwarted with the timely intervention of Jamaat-e-Islami's local team and area residents.He stated that the incident is part of a larger pattern in which forged documents and fraudulent files are being used to forcibly occupy lands and homes across Karachi.He highlighted that land-grabbing activities are widespread in Clifton, Shah Latif, North Nazimabad, Scheme 33, and other areas, and alleged that these operations continue under government patronage. Public parks and government-owned land, including Bin Qasim Park, Umar Sharif Park, and Beach View, have been encroached upon by demolishing boundary walls, despite a High Court order dated 4 S eptember prohibiting such actions.'Karachi is being plundered through a coordinated system of illegal allotments, fake files, and misuse of cooperative societies. This city will not be allowed to be divided or exploited along ethnic lines,' he said.He reaffirmed Jamaat-e-Islami's commitment to supporting citizens against land mafias and announced the formation of an Action Committee at Idara Noor-e-Haq, with community committees already active across the city.He urged Karachi's residents to reach out to Jamaat-e-Islami when encountering similar incidents, assuring them of full support 'in every lane, every neighborhood, and every locality.'JI leaders Naeem Akhtar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town Chairman Dr. Fawad, Vice Chairman Ibrahim Siddiqui, Public Aid Committee leader Muhammad Qutub, lawyers' representatives Advocate Asif Azad and Advocate Mujeeb, Information Secretary Zahid Askari and others flanked Monem Zafar at the presser.
