Islamabad: A joint meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice and the National Assembly Standing Committee on Law and Justice was held today to consider the Constitution (Twenty-Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2025. The session was co-chaired by Senator Farooq H. Naek, Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice, and Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, MNA, Chairperson of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Law and Justice.

The meeting was convened in pursuance of the ruling of the Chairman Senate dated November 8, 2025, with permission granted by the Speaker National Assembly under relevant rules. Members from both committees attended, and it was agreed that a detailed clause-by-clause review of the Bill would be conducted to ensure thorough examination of all its provisions.

Extensive discussions took place during the proceedings. Senator Kamran Murtaza and MNA Ms. Alia Kamran walked out of the meeting, expressing concerns that their party had not been adequately consulted during the consensus-building process. However, Ms. Alia Kamran participated in the meeting for a significant portion before leaving.

The committees decided to continue their deliberations in the next sitting, scheduled for tomorrow morning, to further consider the Bill.
