Islamabad: On Friday three meetings of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan were held in the Conference Room of the Supreme Court Building at Islamabad under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Khan Afridi.

The meetings are as follows;

First Meeting of JCP (Lahore High Court) at 2:00 PM to consider the nominations for the appointment of Additional Judges from District Judiciary Punjab (Lahore High Court).

The Second Meeting of JCP (High Court of Sindh) at 3:00 PM for nomination of more Judges for the Constitutional Benches for the High Court of Sindh.

The third Meeting of JCP (Supreme Court) at 3:30 PM to consider the nomination of more Judges for the Constitutional Benches for the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

In the first meeting the following are nominated for appointment as Additional Judges of Lahore High Court, by majority of its total membership.

Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan, District and Sessions Judge, Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh, District and Sessions Judge, Tariq Mahmood Bajwa, District and Sessions Judge and Ms. Abher Gul Khan, District and Sessions Judge.

The Commission unanimously decided that nominees who did not secure the required majority of the total membership of the Commission for finalization of their nominations this time may be renominated for future vacancies.

In the second meeting the Judicial Commission of Pakistan nominated following Judges in Constitutional Benches of High Court of Sindh, by majority of its total membership. Justice Riazat Ali Sahar, Judge High Court of Sindh, Justice Abdul Hamid Bhurgri, Judge High Court of Sindh and Justice Nisar Ahmad Bhanbhro, Judge High Court of Sindh.

In the third meeting the Judicial Commission of Pakistan nominated following Judges in Constitutional Benches of Supreme Court of Pakistan, by majority of its total membership. Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Shakeel Ahmad, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Aamer Farooq, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The Chairperson decided to constitute the committees for setting criteria for appointment of Judges of all High Courts and also for nomination of Judges for Constitutional Benches of Supreme Court and all the High Courts.
