Islamabad: As per the National Assembly Secretariat's official press release, The Standing Committee on Interior met in Parliament House on Wednesday, the 28th February, 2025, under the Chairmanship of Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz, MNA, to discuss budgetary proposals related to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the financial year 2025-26 of the Ministry of Interior and its attached departments.
The meeting began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the confirmation of the minutes from the previous meeting. The Committee reviewed the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) of the Ministry of Interior for the financial year 2025-2026, in line with sub-rules (6) and (7) of Rule 201 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.
The Special Secretary, Ministry of Interior, briefed the Committee on the budgetary proposals related to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the financial year 2025-2026, covering the Ministry of Interior and its attached departments. The Committee unanimously approved the proposed PSDP for the year 2025-26. The Committee recommended that projects related to rural areas of ICT, especially road carpeting, sewerage and sanitation, and water supply schemes, should be given priority in the PSDP. Member CDA informed that several projects in rural area had been delayed due to a shortage of funds. However, the Member assured that the work on these projects will commence within the next two weeks, as the necessary funding has now been secured.
The Secretary, Cooperative Societies Department, ICT, briefed the Committee on matters concerning the National Assembly Secretariat Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NASECHS). The Special Secretary, Ministry of Interior, assured the Committee that the matters will be settled soon. During the meeting, the Committee recommended that a comprehensive report on both the National Assembly and Senate Cooperative Societies be provided in the next meeting, outlining the total land area of both societies, the number of plots allocated and remaining unallocated to allottees, and the names of the administrators who have overseen the societies since their inception.
The Committee directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to investigate the murder case of Mustafa Aamir in Karachi and submit a detailed report in the next meeting. The Committee also recommended to provide a comprehensive report regarding the wedding halls in areas administered by the Sindh Coast Guard.
The Committee referred 'The Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Bill, 2024' moved by Ms. Sehar Kamran, MNA, to the Standing Committee on Human Rights, as matters related to the prevention and criminalization of child marriage and related legislation fall under the domain of the Ministry of Human Rights.
The meeting was attended by Honourable MNAs Mr. Anjum Aqeel Khan, Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed Abbas, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Syed Rafiullah, Sardar Nabeel Ahmed Gabol, Mr. Abdul Qadir Patel, Khawaja Izhar Ul Hassan, Nawabzada Mir Jamal Khan Raisani, Mr. Muhammad Jamal Ahsan Khan, Mr. Nisar Ahmed, Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza, Mr. Muhammad Arshad Sahi, Mr. Jamshaid Ahmed (Online), Ms. Sehar Kamran (Mover of a Bill), and senior officers from the Ministry of Interior, ICT, CDA, and Circle Registrar attended the meeting.
