Justice Chaudhry Iqbal recuses from hearing case against internet shut down

Lahore: Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal of Lahore High Court (LHC) has recused from hearing petition against internet shut down and installation of firewall.The petition against internet shut down and installation of fire wall came up for hearing in LHC Friday.Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal while recusing from hearing petition filed by Judicial Activism Panel ordered to transfer the case to the court of Justice Shakil Ahmad.The court said Justice Shakil Ahmad is hearing cases similar to this case.The petitioner had taken plea internet and social media apps have been shut down in the country without giving any reason and notice. . Every sphere of life and business is being affected due to internet shut down.It was further said in the petition that shutting down internet runs contrary to fundamental human rights.The court was requested to nullify the federal government decision for shutting down internet besides issuing order for complete and immediate restoration of internet.
