Justices Mansoor Ali Shah, Muneeb Akhtar, and two lawyers boycotted the Judicial Commission meeting over seniority and constitutional concerns

Islamabad: In a significant development, Supreme Court Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Muneeb Akhtar, along with Barristers Ali Zafar and Gohar Ali Khan, boycotted the Judicial Commission meeting regarding the appointment of eight judges. Confirming their walkout, Justice Mansoor and Justice Muneeb emphasized their stance, supported by Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.

During the session, Barristers Ali Zafar and Gohar Ali Khan raised concerns over judicial seniority, urging the Commission to defer the proceedings. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah called for postponement, with Justice Muneeb Akhtar endorsing his stance.

Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar explained that the meeting was meant to finalize the appointments of eight judges, but they insisted on postponing it until the verdict on the 26th Constitutional Amendment was issued. Letters were sent by Justices Mansoor and Muneeb, as well as Barrister Ali Zafar, requesting a delay, which was ignored. Consequently, they chose not to participate.

Barrister Ali Zafar further stressed that unresolved seniority issues in the Islamabad High Court warranted the session's postponement.
